It may have been raining outside but that didn’t stop the DMC orgs and fellows from rising bright and early on Saturday, September 7th for our Annual DMC Retreat. Co-led by DMC Director Koboul E. Mansour along with DMC fellows Nickie Conlogue and Jun Reiss, the retreat was an incredible opportunity for our student organization leaders and fellows to learn about campus resources, reflect on their work last year, and collaboratively brainstorm new ideas for this academic year.

Ever felt like the great outdoors wasn't your scene? Well, this year, the DMC is flipping the script on that narrative by launching a collaboration with the 麻豆国产AV Outing Club (HOC).

This year, our Director Dr. Koboul E. Mansour is giving the Days-Massolo Multicultural Center an internal make-over. Dr. Mansour is adopting a Three-Year Strategic Plan and instituting a new program called the Multicultural Fellows Program (MFP) to help the DMC reach a more educational and collaborative approach to advocacy on campus. In particular, the DMC will focus on enhancing student, administrator, and faculty engagement and support, increasing collaboration with campus partners, and promoting campus-wide advocacy and awareness.  

If you were wondering where the powerful Afro-Latin beats were coming from on Friday, September 13th, look no further than the DMC’s front lawn. Here at the DMC we kicked off this semester on a high note with our Black and Latinx Student Union’s Welcome Back Bash!

Are you following the Days-Massolo Center on Instagram? If not, you are missing out. Our social media lead, Raymond ‘24, and Social Media Intern, Chidera ‘24, both help organize, create, and manage the DMC’s Instagram page. These two seniors make sure everyone is up to date about what is happening at the DMC in real time. 

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), which means that there is a special focus on supporting survivors of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse this month, The DMC aims to spread information about these traumas and how we can address them. Let’s take some time to learn about the history of SAAM, the importance of year’s theme, and the different ways that you can participate in SAAM awareness here on 麻豆国产AV’s campus.

On Thursday, January 25, 2024 the campus community gathered inside the Tolles Pavilion to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., while enjoying good food and great company. 

On February 6th, leaders in the DMC community came together to eat dinner with Admiral Michelle Howard in the living room of our little, blue, home away from home.

This month’s “Meet the Team” highlight is centered on Nickie Conlogue, who acts as the DMC Generalist. Nickie has been with the DMC since her Freshman fall semester as part of the programming team, and now she works almost entirely behind the scenes to make sure that the DMC runs smoothly.

In this article I take us back to 4 o’clock on Tuesday, September 5th, when the Days-Massolo Center opened its doors to 麻豆国产AV’s Community for the first time this fall semester of 2023.
