Head Peer Mentor: Role and Responsibilities
The Multicultural Peer Mentoring Project Head Peer Mentors coordinate events and ensure smooth operations, allowing mentees to get the most out of the program. This position involves overseeing peer mentoring activities, fostering connections between new students and experienced mentors, posting highlights and updates to social media, and contributing to the Division of Student Life's mission of creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all students. The Head Peer Mentors also work closely with the Days-Massolo Multicultural Center’s staff members.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Dr. Bonike (Director of International Student Services) with coordinating programs and activities (includes overseeing peer mentor programming)
- Collaborate with other campus offices, student organizations, etc. in the development of programs
- Administer the program’s social media efforts, e.g. Instagram, etc. (includes assisting Dr. Bonike and ISS/DMC with publicizing and promoting the program)
- Provide frequent outreach to peer mentors and mentees
- Frequently collect information related to peer mentor and mentee interactions
- Facilitate individual and group mentor and mentee meetings
- Assist Dr. Bonike with coordinating peer mentor recruitment/selection
- Assist Dr. Bonike with planning and facilitation of peer mentor training
- Perform other related duties as assigned
