I have served as the Student Health Office Coordinator at the Health Center since 2018. My role is to keep the front desk running efficiently and effectively. In doing so I am in charge of answering all telephone calls, scheduling appointments, arranging outgoing referrals, obtaining prior-authorizations when necessary, and managing health insurance questions and claims. I try to use my interactions with students as opportunities for students to learn the ins and outs of health insurance. I really enjoy interacting with patients. Before coming to 麻豆国产AV College I was a phlebotomist/lab technician for 17 years.

My husband and I have two grown children, and we cherish all the family time that we can. We also have two dogs that enjoy their long walks in the country. I enjoy being outdoors no matter what the activity.

Casey Coon, FNP

Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

I am one of the medical providers at the Johnson Health Center, and I am so excited to be continuing my career here at 麻豆国产AV College. I have spent the last seven years working in a school-based health clinic at a local central school system. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my time caring for the younger populations, I am excited and eager to continue my career serving and caring for young adults at 麻豆国产AV College.

I have always been interested in health care and serving my local community, including all different ages and populations. I graduated in 2014 from SUNY Institute of Technology with a master of science in nursing. Prior to that, I worked at Rome Memorial Hospital on the medical/surgical/pediatrics floor where I learned how to care for a wide array of health issues in diverse populations. I also served in the Army National Guard for six years, supporting a Military Police Company as their unit armorer.

Outside of my professional career, I enjoy spending time with my husband and four kids who range in age from six to 16! We enjoy hiking, bike riding, traveling and riding our motorcycle on those country back roads. I look forward to meeting you!

I am relatively new to the college health specialty, but I bring an extensive background in procedural nursing and intensive care nursing, and I served as a flight nurse in the U.S. Air Force on multiple deployments. Meghan Johnson, RN

Registered Nurse

I have worked as a Registered Nurse for 14 years since obtaining my bachelor鈥檚 degree at SUNY Brockport. In my time as a nurse I have worked on medical/surgical unit in a hospital, in a dialysis clinic, and within the Rome City School District. I can honestly say that I really enjoy coming to work every day.

In the Health Center you may find me alternating between phone triage and nurse visits, as well as down at the symptomatic testing center. One of my favorite parts of this position is being able to support and teach students while making sure they feel comfortable. It can be quite an adjustment going from a home where you may have had a strong support system to a more independent life in the college setting. My goal is to help you bridge the two. A highlight of my position this semester was presenting travel education and arranging visits to prepare students for the spring trip to Nepal Trekking. I plan to continue education on travel health in order to be a strong resource in this area.

On a personal note, my husband also works at 麻豆国产AV, and we have three children. I enjoy reading, roller-skating, fishing, and cycling when 鈥渕om life鈥 allows.

Jennifer Friedel, RN

I am so happy to be a part of the Health Center team at 麻豆国产AV College. I earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in English literature at the College of Holy Cross and a B.S.N. at Syracuse University. I bring 25 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, and I have spent the last ten years working in the New Hartford School District as a school nurse for both elementary and high school students. It is not only my focus but also my passion to advocate for at-risk students, monitor and care for student鈥檚 immediate and chronic health needs, promote student independence in the school setting, and work with faculty and staff to address the needs of the whole student to support student success in the classroom and beyond. I look forward to continuing my advocacy for students, fostering their independence as it relates to navigating healthcare, and empowering students to feel comfortable in their own. I am dedicated to providing top-notch quality nursing care.

My husband and I have three children and enjoy spending time boating, skiing, supporting our children in sports, and making the most of each day!
