Goldman Sachs Chairman and CEO David Solomon ’84 and Thomas Tull ’92, chairman and CEO of Pittsburgh-based investment-holding company Tulco, will discuss how emerging technologies are revolutionizing today’s businesses in a special program at Â鶹¹ú²úAV College.

On the eve of the public launch of Because Â鶹¹ú²úAV, a fundraising campaign to raise $400 million, Â鶹¹ú²úAV College trustees and friends surprised long-time volunteer Jeff Little by announcing they had committed $1.2 million to create an endowed scholarship in his name.

Â鶹¹ú²úAV formally launched Because Â鶹¹ú²úAV, a campaign to raise $400 million for six institutional priorities, during the College’s 21st Annual 1812 Leadership Circle Weekend in New York City.

Â鶹¹ú²úAV College has joined the American Talent Initiative, a national alliance of colleges and universities committed to attracting, enrolling, and graduating more high-achieving, lower-income students.

Â鶹¹ú²úAV College will construct a new PGA-quality golf practice facility and name it for longtime professor and coach Bob Simon, President David Wippman announced.

The Â鶹¹ú²úAV College Town-Gown Fund recently made $64,969 in grants to seven organizations, bringing the total disbursed from the endowment to more than $693,000 since 2001.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education has voted to “reaffirm accreditation” of Â鶹¹ú²úAV College and to “commend the institution for the quality of the self-study report.”

President Joan Hinde Stewart announced the passing of Professor of Biology Emeritus Eugene Putala in an e-mail to the campus community on April 4.

Patrick D. Reynolds, professor of biology at Â鶹¹ú²úAV, has been appointed dean of faculty at the college, effective July 1, 2011. He is currently serving in that capacity on an interim basis.
