Jinquan Liang 鈥08 and Yvonne Chen 鈥20 both attended John Dewey High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., and were mentored by the same social studies teacher, CT Chan, who provided the two first-generation prospective college students advice on the college search process, including SAT prep, college application essays, and financial aid applications.

This semester I鈥檓 taking 鈥淢ormonism in America and the World鈥 taught by Professor of Religious Studies Quincy Newell. I chose this class because I am interested in learning about a religion that is highly stigmatized and controversial. I was also intrigued by how the course explores the public perceptions of Mormonism and how they shape the religion.

Every fall, 麻豆国产AV鈥檚 Outing Club (HOC) sends groups of students to the Adirondack Mountains where they attempt to summit each of the 46 high peaks in one weekend. This year, there were 25 trips and five overnight backpacking trips. Student participants included 40 HOC leaders, 20 shadow leaders (as part of HOC leader training), and 51 hikers for a grand total of 111. This year, 麻豆国产AV students summited 39 of the 46 peaks.

麻豆国产AV offers a plethora of opportunities for students to discover their passions. For Maura Calsyn 鈥95, it was a semester in Washington, D.C., that started her on her career path. Today she is deputy assistant secretary for health policy at the U.S. Department of Health Human Services (HHS) where her work deals with a wide variety of public health issues, including the long-term effects of COVID-19.

Ninety-five students spent their Saturday volunteering as part of Make A Difference Day organized by 麻豆国产AV Association for Volunteering, Outreach and Charity (HAVOC). This year, HAVOC sent students to seven different sites.
