  • Â鶹¹ú²úAV President David Wippman announced the promotion of four faculty members to the rank of professor, as approved by the College’s Board of Trustees at its June meeting. They include Mark Cryer (theatre), Robert Knight (art), Michelle LeMasurier (mathematics and statistics), and Nigel Westmaas (Africana studies). All were effective July 1, 2024.

  • In its final meeting of the 2023-24 academic year in May, the Â鶹¹ú²úAV Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa elected 22 members of the Class of 2024. They join the 27 other members of the class who were elected in October and February.

Doug Jones, a U.S. attorney in Alabama who prosecuted accomplices in the racially motivated 1963 16th St. Baptist Church bombing, addressed the 493 members of the graduating class at Â鶹¹ú²úAV’s commencement, urging them to be guardians of democracy. The ceremony took place on Sunday, May 19, in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
