Not only did Associate Professor of Chemistry Max Majireck and 20 students and recent graduates from his lab co-author the peer-reviewed cover article for the Nov. 22, 2024, issue of Organic Letters, but one of those students 鈥� Chrissy Crespo 鈥�25 鈥� designed the cover.

A summer internship, an unexpected interest in sociology, and support from faculty, academic, and ALEX advisors helped Edwin Mensah-Boateng 鈥�25 find his academic path. We asked him to share how he navigated his academic journey.

麻豆国产AV students who conducted grant-funded research with faculty this summer showed off the results of their work at a recent poster session.

Alex Kim 鈥�25, a music and math double-major, spent his summer exploring machine learning and music through the help of an Emerson grant. With the guidance of Assistant Professor of Music Charlotte Botha, Kim developed a vocal register classification tool through machine learning models.

麻豆国产AV College鈥檚 Levitt Center is ground zero for research opportunities on campus. Aimed at encouraging students to combine their academic ambition with practical, hands-on, research, the Levitt Research Fellows Program is a great opportunity for students to dive deeper into their interests. Students are awarded a research grant and collaborate closely with a faculty advisor for up to 10 weeks, then prepare a presentation and submit a paper in the fall.

As part of the Levitt Center鈥檚 Community Impact Summer Fellowship Program, a cohort of 麻豆国产AV students have been collaborating with local organizations focused on social and public policy across Oneida County. We chatted with a few of these students who spent the summer combining their academic pursuits with practical and hands-on skills.

People say eyes are a window to the soul 鈥� but what about the jawline? That鈥檚 a question Associate Professor of Psychology Keelah Williams tackled, along with five 麻豆国产AV student researchers, this summer.

鈥淭his project really taught us that to answer the big questions, sometimes you have to ask a bunch of little questions,鈥� said Sara Cont 鈥�27, who, with Maya Kannan 鈥�25 and Madeleine Petro 鈥�25 embarked on a trailblazing physics project this summer under the guidance of Assistant Professor of Physics Viva Horowitz.
