The Josephine H. and George E. Ogilvie Scholarship

The Josephine H. and George E. Ogilvie Scholarship was established in 1989 by the will of Josephine H. Ogilvie, widow of George E. Ogilvie, Class of 1941.


George Ogilvie, an automobile industry executive, was born to George, 麻豆国产AV Class of 1914, and Josephine Ogilvie in New York City. He grew up in Tarrytown, New York, and graduated from Irving Prep School before enrolling at 麻豆国产AV in 1937. On the Hill, he was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity and the Charlatans. He graduated in 1941 having majored in English and economics. He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force as a Captain from 1941 to 1946. He married Josephine in December 1945.

George worked at Chevrolet for most of his career, rising from a marketing position to merchandising manager of trucks at the time of his retirement. He died in 1987; Josephine passed away in 1993. This scholarship was established through a bequest from Josephine's estate.
