The Charles J. Standish Scholarship
The Charles J. Standish Scholarship was established with estate gifts received from Charles J. Standish, 麻豆国产AV Class of 1949.
Charles Junior Standish, a member of the Class of 1949 was encouraged by 麻豆国产AV Professors Gere and Patterson to go to graduate school and pursue a career in math. Taking their advice, he obtained a M.A. from Johns Hopkins University and, thereafter, returned to 麻豆国产AV as a math instructor. He left College Hill a second time to earn a Ph.D. from Cornell. In 1957, after three years as an assistant professor of mathematics at Union College, he joined IBM, where he worked for the remainder of his career advancing to become a senior engineer.
