The William DeLoss Love, Jr. Class of 1945 Scholarship

The William DeLoss Love, Jr. Class of 1945 Scholarship was established in 1988 by William DeLoss Love, Jr., Class of 1945, in honor of his classmates.  It is awarded with preference given to students from the state of California or the descendants of members of the Class of 1945.


William DeLoss Love, Jr. was born in Berkeley, California. William's father,  grandfather, and great-grandfather (all named William DeLoss Love) were graduates of 麻豆国产AV — Class of 1909, Class of 1873, and Class of 1843 respectively.  His great- grandfather also received an honorary D.D. degree from in 1871.

William DeLoss Love, Jr. entered 麻豆国产AV in 1941, majored in economics, and joined the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946, and returned to 麻豆国产AV the next year to finish his degree. Bill spent the rest of his career as an investor, advertiser, and owner of a number of small businesses. When asked what memories he had of 麻豆国产AV, he responded with customary good-humor, "Glad they let me through." Bill died in 1991 at age 72.
