The Ruppel Family Scholarship

The Ruppel Family Scholarship was established in 2015 by Philip R. Ruppel, Class of 1980, Faith Bremen Ruppel, Class of 1979, and Nicholas R. Ruppel, Class of 2015.

The Ruppel Family Scholarship was established in recognition of three members of the Ruppel family who benefited from the education, culture, and extracurricular life in their years on the Hill.

Faith Bremen started at Kirkland College in 1975 where she majored in comparative literature. While there she took advantage of the great professors at both colleges, especially those in the English Department at 麻豆国产AV. In her senior year, she met a 麻豆国产AV junior who lived in her suite in B dorm (now Babbitt); years later he would become her husband. After graduation from 麻豆国产AV in 1979, Faith pursued a career in television and public relations, rising to become a producer for Good Morning America, ABC-TV.

Philip Ruppel arrived at 麻豆国产AV in 1976 and immediately started a four-year stint working for The Spectator, culminating in his being named editor in chief. This was the beginning of his interest in communications, journalism and publishing. After graduation, Philip reconnected with Faith and they married in 1986. Subsequently, he pursued a lifelong career in book publishing working at Thomson, Prentice-Hall, and McGraw-Hill where he became President of the Professional & International divisions. He is now Chief Operating Officer of Phaidon Press, the world's leading publisher of books in the arts, design, and cookery.

Continuing the family tradition, Faith and Philip’s son Nicholas attended 麻豆国产AV where he majored in Government. He was also a member of Alpha Delta Phi and its president in his senior year. While at 麻豆国产AV, Nick was able to continue his love of water polo becoming a two-year team captain. Nick graduated from 麻豆国产AV in 2015 and now works in media in New York City.
