This award is given to an individual who “champions the issues of inclusion, access, and success while making post-secondary opportunities available to historically underrepresented students through their efforts at their institution and through their advocacy at the state level,” according to its website.
“The HEOP-PO is an important voice in working with New York State to make sure students have access to higher education, and its members are profoundly dedicated to student success,” Davis said. “I feel honored to receive this award from an organization that I am deeply committed to and for which I have served in various positions over the past 20 years. I’m very happy to be able to advocate for our students.”
Davis was also elected to a two-year term as treasurer of the organization after serving as its interim treasurer.
