Bruce Walczyk has developed a unique approach that combines traditional martial art and performance forms and brings them into a contemporary context. He continues to produce choreography blending these ideas and emphasizes the Malay concept; "Dari Bunga Datang Buah" translating to "from the flower comes the fruit", meaning from the dance comes the combative application in his Martial arts & Dance courses. His most recent work, "The White Rajahs" based on his sabbatical to southeast Asia in spring of 2017 illustrates the story of "The Brooke Dynasty" of Sarawak, Malaysia. Walczyk continues to present his research in martial arts and dance throughout the U.S. and southeast Asia. Walczyk received a master's degree in choreography from UCLA and a bachelor's degree in dance from SUNY Brockport.
