Postgraduate

  • Bristol Fellowship

    Supports a one year, self-designed, independent project outside the U.S. Open to graduating seniors; U.S. citizens and international students.

  • Fulbright Grant

    Support one year of post-graduate study overseas in any field. Awards are available to conduct research, to study or to act as English teaching assistants. U.S. citizenship by December of the application year is required.

  • Gates Cambridge Scholarship

    Provides full funding for graduate study or for a second BA at Cambridge University for one to three years. Scholarships are available to applicants from every country of the world except the United Kingdom.

  • German Academic Exchange Program (D.A.A.D.)

    Covers one year of study in any discipline at a German university. Applications are welcome from freshmen through post docs. Open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and Canadian citizens.

  • Levitt Social Innovation Fellowship

    Provides funding to develop and implement a social innovation venture. The term of the fellowship is for 12 months and for projects implemented in Oneida or Herkimer Counties, N.Y.

  • Marshall Scholarship

    Tenable at any British university for two years of study in any discipline. U.S. citizen is required.

  • Mitchell Scholarship

    Provide funding for one year of post-graduate study in either Ireland or Northern Ireland. U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Rhodes Scholarship

    Provides funding for one or two years of study at Oxford University. Open to U.S. citizens and citizens of other eligible countries who must apply in their home countries even as students studying in the U.S.

  • Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Fellowship

    Provides funding for periods ranging from three months up to two years for post-graduate study abroad. U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Samuel Huntington Public Service Award

    Provides two $10,000 stipends each year for graduating college seniors to pursue a public service project of their own design anywhere in the world.

  • Supports thirty New Americans, immigrants or the children of immigrants, who are pursuing graduate school in the U.S.

  • St. Andrew's Society Scholarship

    Provides funding for a year of graduate study in Scotland. Open to U.S. citizens of some Scottish descent.

  • Thomas J. Watson Fellowship

    Provides $36,000 for a year of international travel to pursue an independent self- designed project. Open to graduating seniors, U.S. citizenship is not required.

Study Abroad

  • Gilman International Scholarship

    Defrays the costs of study abroad for U.S. citizen students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding.

  • NSEP Boren Scholarship

    Funds the study of a foreign language considered vital to the country's national security for one summer and one academic year for undergraduates.

  • U.S.-Japan Bridging Foundation Scholarship

    Provide funding for one semester of study in Japan. Open to U.S. citizens; all majors encouraged to apply; Japanese language facility is not required.

Science & Math

  • DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship

    Supports full-time doctoral study in the U.S. in an applied science or engineering discipline with applications in high-performance computing.

  • National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowship

    Support graduate students in fields important to national defense needs. This requirement is defined broadly and most prospective graduate students in the sciences and engineering are eligible to apply.

  • Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship

    Provides up to $7,500 for each of the final two years of undergraduate study for current sophomores and for one year for current juniors.

  • Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Scholarship Program

    Scholarship provides funding for tuition, living expenses, books and other required fees for the length of the graduate degree program up to six years.

  • UNCF-Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship

    Awards are intended to encourage the interest of African American undergraduate students in furthering their science education and pursuing biomedical science careers by providing tuition support and opportunities for research experience in a state-of-the-art industrial laboratory.

  • NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

    Provides support for research based graduate study leading to doctoral degrees in the natural sciences, mathematics, computer sciences, engineering, behavioral and social sciences, and in the history or philosophy of science.

Undergraduate

  • Beinecke Memorial Scholarship

    Pays $2,000 for the senior year, $15,000 per year for the first two years of graduate or professional school. Fellows must be nominated by the College.

  • Harry S. Truman Scholarship

    National award that provides funding towards senior year and for the first three years of graduate study. Designed for students interested in a career in public service (defined very broadly).

  • Morris K. Udall Scholarship

    Supports students who intend to pursue careers related to environmental issues and/or environmental public policy. Also, it supports Native Americans and Alaska Natives who intend to pursue careers in health care and tribal public policy.

International Students

  • Individuals interested in artistic and technical production, arts administration and community engagement. Fellowship provides a modest stipend.

  • Women of any nationality with a superior academic record and a bachelor's degree in science or engineering. Fellowships carry a stipend of $6,000; approximately 35 are awarded annually.

  • Full-time study or research to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Both graduate and postgraduate study at accredited institutions are supported.

  • Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden citizens for study or research programs (usually at the graduate level) in the United States for up to one year. Awards are made in all fields.

  • Individual fellowship grants to artists, scholars, students, and specialists from Asia for study, research, travel and creative work in the U.S.

  • The AD Program offers about 300 postgraduate scholarships a year for studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions.

  • Undergraduate applicants must be in their second or third year of college and expect to major in science or a related field. Graduate students must have been admitted to candidacy for the Ph.D. in a life or physical science or engineering program.

  • Short-term fellowship program supporting bibliographical inquiry as well as research in the history of the book trades and in publishing history.

  • Bristol Fellowship

    Created for Â鶹¹ú²úAV College students to "encourage discovery of self and the world, a greater appreciation and understanding of people and culture, and to enable individuals to act on great ideas through independent study projects rather than formal academic pursuit."

  • Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Junior Fellow Program

    Year long paid internship for graduating seniors interested in careers in international affairs. Internship is at the Carnegie Endowment for World Peace in Washington, D.C.

  • Full scholarship for nationals from Southern African countries South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Angola and Mozambique) who wish to pursue a postgraduate degree (normally a one year Master's degree) in either the United Kingdom or southern Africa.

  • Three different scholarship schemes for postgraduate study in the United Kingdom. For students from selected countries. Eligible for all fields of study.

  • Designed to engage graduate science, engineering, medical, veterinary, business, and law students in the analysis that informs the creation of science and technology policy and to familiarize them with the interactions of science, technology and government.

  • Commonwealth citizens to pursue postgraduate study or doctoral study at Commonwealth universities.

  • Undergraduate scholarships to study in the Federal Republic of Germany. Foreign nationals are eligible if they are attending a U.S. institution for their undergraduate degree. Applications in all fields are accepted, with the exception of dentistry, medicine, pharmacy and veterinary medicine.

  • Need-based grants (up to $6,000) to undergraduate or graduate students actively working for peace and justice on campus and/or in the community.

  • Funding to conduct public service projects anywhere in the world. For up to two years of support.

  • Twenty-two fellowships for doctoral-level programs in business administration, economics, public administration, and public policy. For citizens of Georgia, Russia or Ukraine.

  • Essay contest for full-time juniors or seniors. Prizes range from $500 - $5,000.

  • $10,000 (Canadian) award for talented artists. No age limit. Not for those pursuing abstract or nonrepresentational art.

  • This scholarship recognizes excellence in Ph.D. or post-doctoral environmental research and education.

  • Fellowships to first-, second-, and third-year undergraduate students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

  • $1,500 grants in support of exploration and field research. Funds given primarily to graduate students.

  • Educational exchanges that strengthen understanding and communication between the U.S. and 140 countries. Students interested in applying for the Fulbright Student Program must apply through the Fulbright Program Office in their home country.

  • One to three years of study in any discipline at Cambridge University. Candidates apply directly through Cambridge.

  • Glamour Magazine’s Top Ten College Women Competition

  • $3,000 award for 100 outstanding second year college students in any field of study.

  • Internship opportunity for college graduates to serve 6 – 9 months with a participating organization of their choice in Washington DC.

  • For undergraduate and graduate students interested in the classical liberal/libertarian tradition of individual rights and market economies. More than 100 fellowships up to $15,000 are awarded annually.

  • For young journalists and journalism school graduates from Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States.

  • Up to 50 fellowships to support social scientists and humanists conducting dissertation field research in all areas and regions of the world.

  • Grants between $2,500 and $10,000 for projects to support civil society organizations, education professionals, media, and journalists in the Middle East and North Africa.

  • Various scholarships for students in the fields of automation and control.

  • Graduating seniors or recent alumni. Open to all fields of study at any accredited university in the US or abroad. Award is up to $50,000 per year for up to 6 years.

  • Nationals of IMF Asian member countries interested in studying for their doctorates in economics in order to work in an international financial institution (such as the IMF or the World Bank) or in their home administrations.

  • The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is for students from developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts who are applying to a master degree program in a development-related topic.

  • Annual fellowship for advanced study of Fine Arts in the U.S. or abroad, to enhance professional standing or to finance a special project. Preference for candidates under 25 years. There are three fellowships of $7,500 each in art, architecture or music; an additional music fellowship for $15,000; and up to three alternate awards of up to $1,000 each.

  • Funding opportunity for Muslim students in Medicine, Engineering, and sciences (Physics, Chemistry, and Geology) to study at an accredited European or North American university.

  • Up to 14 scholarships offered for disadvantaged South African students to pursue post graduate study in the United Kingdom.

  • Four types of scholarships for undergraduate students interested in computer science and related technical disciplines. One year award for students attending institutions in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. All recipients of a scholarship will be required to complete a salaried summer internship of 12 weeks or more at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, Washington.

  • Organization of American States (OAS) Fellowships

    For graduate study or research in any field except medical sciences or introductory language study.

  • Funding to pay the difference between international student fees and home EU fees for international students at UK institutions.

  • Supports doctoral dissertations that explore the sources and nature of international conflict, and strategies to prevent or end conflict and to sustain peace. Citizens of all countries are eligible, but must be enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States.

  • One to three years of study at Oxford University for citizens of Australia, Bangladesh, Bermuda, Canada, Commonwealth Caribbean and Jamaica, Germany, Hong Kong, India Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Open to all fields.

  • The Roothbert Fund Scholarship Program

    Approximately 20 ($2,000-$3,000) awards are offered to students in the U.S. in need of financial aid to further their education at the undergraduate or graduate level.

  • Funding to support two-year master's-level degree program at one of the Rotary Centers for International Studies. Seventy scholarships are offered worldwide.

  • One year study abroad opportunity in any discipline in over 160 countries worldwide.

  • Samuel Huntington Public Service Fellowship Award

    The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award provides a $15,000 stipend for a one-year public service project.

  • Various awards for women pursuing baccalaureate or graduate degrees in engineering or computer science, as well as engineering and computer science students enrolled in ABET-accredited engineering programs.

  • Unless noted otherwise, all Smithsonian fellowships (graduate, pre-doctoral, post-doctoral, senior) opportunities are open to non-US citizens.

  • Candidates for the doctoral degree at a graduate school within the United States are eligible.

  • Two special degree study programs for citizens of South Pacific nations and East Timor. Scholarships are awarded for undergraduate degree study. Priority is given to applicants seeking degrees that address national development needs.

  • Awards and cash grants offered for student films.

  • Merit based awards for study at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels both in the U.S. and abroad.

  • UNESCO/Keizo Obuchi Fellowship

    Young researchers with advanced degrees (M.A., M.Sc. or equivalent) from developing countries majoring in one of four areas: environment, intercultural dialogue, information and communication technologies, and peaceful conflict resolution.

  • Open to graduating seniors to engage in one year of self-designed independent study and travel abroad. Proposed project should involve investigation into an area of demonstrated concern and personal interest, it should be creative, feasible, interactive, and personally significant -- critical elements are commitment, quality of project, and match of project to the individual, feasibility, and the ability to work and travel independently.

  • Winston Foundation for World Peace Fellowships

    Supports undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in cooperative security, conflict resolution, and disarmament. Fellows design their own projects, usually involving public education, media outreach, grassroots organizing, or another active approach to issues of cooperative security, nuclear arms control, conventional arms transfers, demilitarization, democracy building, conflict resolution, and the like. Applicants are expected to work full-time with a non-profit organization. A stipend is provided for the duration of the project, which lasts from 2-4 months during the academic year or summer.
