The Wellin Museum opened its doors on Thursday, October 1 to the 麻豆国产AV College campus community for a first-look at the new fall exhibitions. 麻豆国产AV professors, staff, students and community members poured in to view the two new exhibitions, Karen Hampton: The Journey North and Renée Stout: Tales of the Conjure Woman. The complex narratives of diaspora, identity and heritage that are so prevalent in these exhibitions, truly struck a chord with the diverse audience, inspiring excellent conversation and academic discourse. The unique nature of the multimedia sculpture encouraged those present to engage with new types of art and expand their horizons. There was also a lively exchange between student docents and the visitors, as they absorbed the shows. Arist Renée Stout was on-site engaging with visitors and offering her inspiring backstory as community members viewed her artwork.

The event was not solely academic, but was a fun party atmosphere where people picked up free Wellin tote bags, mugs and t-shirts, enjoyed food and met up with friends. The fall exhibitions will be on display and open to the public for the duration of the Fall 2015 semester. On Saturday, October 3rd, there will be an evening reception for the general public and Fallcoming Weekend visitors 4 - 6pm.
