Black History Month 2023

Here are a few of the events celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

• Martin Luther King Jr. Celebratory Dinner — February 3
• HAVOC’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service — February 4
• Lunch and Learn: Seeing Humanity through the eyes of Martin Luther King Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel — February 9
• Welcoming Change with Angela Davis Hosted by BLSU, CIF, and VCLS! — February 23

Black History Month 2022

Our first week will focus on Black legacy. We encourage everyone to explore the resources, learn, engage in discussions and find ways to recognize that Black history is American history. 

We’ve had the opportunity to partner with many colleagues and campus friends in the various programming offerings. Join us for the Fillius Jazz Archive lunch and learn, and connect with the alumni who, as students, advocated for the creation of the Days-Massolo Center, a cultural education center. Visit the Wellin Art Museum as their docents guide you through American history through the lens of Black artists and creators. This event will feature works of art from Wellin’s collection and the current exhibition Yashua Klos: OUR LABOUR., and not last and not least, sign up for a virtual cooking class with the lovely Ms. Breland! Black History Month 2021

The Days-Massolo Center invites the greater 麻豆国产AV College community to partner in planning the recognition and celebration of cultural, heritage, and identity months. The vision for engaging greater partners in the Center’s work builds upon our vision “to be a catalyst for social change and a resource for shared experience at 麻豆国产AV College.” We invite anyone interested in helping plan, work on, and see the monthly celebrations come to fruition to submit an application. The committees will be made up of students, faculty, and staff.

We’re thankful for the time, intention, and passion the 2021 Black History Month Committee has dedicated to Black History Month and to the ongoing work. The themes for our celebrations, workshops, lectures, and various co-curricular programming are centered around Black joy, laughter, and healing. We hope to see as many of the 麻豆国产AV community members at the various Black History Month programs.
